This type of feldspar is officially the Oregon gem’s state. It is found in eastern Lake County, near Plush and also in Harney County where there is a potential for discovering more gems. The reddish shiller is due to tiny copper flakes that gives this effect to this gem variety, while other sunstones contains hematite. Is highly priced especially for the red color, also green and green-red. The hardness is 6 to 6.5 from the Mohs scale.
