A rather uncommon mineral and very rare to be found as a facet gem. The formula is Ca6(Al,Si)2(SO4)2B(OH)4(OH,O)12·26(H2O) a rare idrate aluminum solfate , belong to the Ettringite group together with Sturmanite. The hardness is 2.5 and the crystals are usually less than 1 cm. This gem comes from N'Chwaning Mine, Kalahari Manganese Field, Northern Cape Province, South Africa. Very few stones have been cut, therefore is a real treasure for the collector. Very difficult to cut,due to the high water content. Size: 9.5x6.8x3.5 mm. Weight:1.14 ct. CODE#2534
